Custom Task Statuses

Every team works differently. iTasks ships with a sensible default pipeline — Backlog, New, In Progress, Testing, Done — but you are not locked into it. Rename any status to match your terminology, or add entirely new statuses to capture stages unique to your workflow, like "Code Review", "Staging", or "Client Approval."

Three system statuses are always present: Backlog (the entry point for ideas), New (active tasks), and Done (completed work). You can rename these, but they cannot be removed — ensuring every workflow has a clear beginning and end. Everything in between is yours to define, giving your team a pipeline that reflects how work actually moves.

This is just as useful for HelpDesk workflows when support teams need clear stages like "New request", "Waiting for customer", "Sent to engineering", or "Resolved."

Backlog & Ideas

Great ideas deserve a place to live before they become active work. The Backlog in iTasks is a dedicated space for draft tasks, feature requests, and ideas that are not ready for assignment. Tasks in backlog do not appear in active workloads, keeping your team focused on what is actually in progress.

When an idea is ready, simply move it to an active status and assign it. The backlog acts as your team's idea bank — capture everything, prioritize later. You can even rename "Backlog" to "Ideas", "Drafts", "Wishlist", or whatever fits your team's language. It is your workflow, your naming.

Project Colors

When you are managing multiple projects in a workspace, visual cues make all the difference. iTasks lets you assign a color to each project, and that color appears throughout the interface — on task cards, in list views, and alongside filters. At a glance, you can tell which project a task belongs to without reading a single label.

Color-coding is especially useful in cross-project views where tasks from different projects appear together. A red dot means "Backend API", a blue dot means "Mobile App" — your team builds these associations naturally, making navigation faster and reducing cognitive load during daily task reviews.

Task Filters & Lists

iTasks presents your tasks in a clean, filterable list that adapts to what you need to see right now. Filter by project to focus on one area, by status to see what is in testing, by assignee to check a teammate's workload, or by date range to review recently completed work.

Filters work across all projects in your workspace, giving you a unified view of everything that matters. Combine multiple filters to narrow down precisely — for example, show all high-priority bugs assigned to you that are currently in progress. The result is a focused task list that cuts through the noise and shows exactly what needs your attention.

Questions about workflow and search

Can I create custom task statuses?

Yes. You can rename the default statuses (Backlog, New, In Progress, Testing, Done) and add your own custom statuses to match your workflow.

What is the backlog for?

Backlog is a holding area for task ideas and drafts. Tasks in backlog aren't assigned to anyone. Move them to an active status when you're ready to work on them.

How does search work in iTasks?

iTasks uses PostgreSQL full-text search with Russian morphology support and fuzzy matching. You can search across task titles, descriptions, and optionally task discussions.

Can I color-code my projects?

Yes. Each project can have its own color that appears on task cards throughout the interface for quick visual identification.

What filters are available?

You can filter tasks by project, status, assignee, and completion date range. Filters work across all projects in a workspace.
